Image THIS JUST IN!!!!

The Mish goes GREEN! Thanks to the Fort Collins based company Zero Hero Events,  the Mishawaka Amphitheater will be run off of 100 % biodiesel fuel for the first time ever. In addition, recycling and composting bins will be provided throughout the venue ensuring minimal waste.  Also, transportation vehicles provided by the Basics Fund will be running on biodiesel for the duration of the evening, as patrons will not need to drive down the canyon after the show. Pixie Mate will be providing complimentary authentic Yerba Mate energy drink to supplement the liveliness of the audience into the wee hours of the morning. We hope that you will join us for this very special evening of music and arts at Colorado's most intimate outdoor venue.

The Pnuma Trio will be headlining Re:Creation at Mishawaka with 2 sets of textured, high-octane rhythms continuing late into the night. The band has been evolving a fresh new style of live electronic music infused with hip hop, drum & bass and glitch over the last several years, and are touring in support of their groundbreaking first full-length album "Character," which was released on STS9's label 1320 Records in June. Also appearing will be the Colorado-bred phenomenon known as Pretty Lights, who have made waves throughout the Front Range with their party rocking yet organic and intellectual beats. Los Angeles resident genius of glitched-out melody Nosaj Thing will be throwing down as well, along with local Boulder electro-funk favorites Savoy.

Tickets are onsale now at www.mishawakaconcerts.com for $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Witness the Jazz Fusion Evolution that is Charlie Hunter

Friday July 11th, Charlie gets freaky @ the Boulder Theater.

Just the facial expressions alone on this man, while he defies normal finger dexterity on his 7-string guitar, is enough to call Charlie Hunter's show "Performance Art". Or more fittingly, considering his unusual style of playing his one of a kind guitar, "a freak show".  You see, Charlie plays the strangest of guitars, a combination between a six string guitar and a bass guitar. This is no small feat, as the bass guitar has a longer fret board than a six string, and to combine the two takes a very interesting fret layout.  This is one of the many reasons Charlie Hunter has come up with his own brand of Jazz fusion.

Charlie Hunter's music and band members are in constant fluctuation. Each album sounds quite different from the other,  and his band mates change multiple times a year.  He has played and recorded with many Jazz/Funk greats like Karl Denson, Robert Walter, Mike Clark, Stanton Moore and Fred Wesley, just to name a few.  Does this reflect his constant desire for progression, or a bad case of ADD? I can't say, but his current band The Charlie Hunter Trio is nothing short of genius. Notably, long time Boulder favorite, Erik Deutsch of The Motet played keys on his latest album and will be playing at his live shows. With Nels Cline of Wilco fame opening, this show should be jaw dropping! See you there.

Audience:  All Ages
Seating:  All Seated Reserved/GA
General Admission:  $18.00
Reserved Tickets:  $23.50

To all of the parents who are reading this article in hopesto find a nice place to take their young child for his or her first Ferris Wheel ride: I sincerely apologize. The ElectricDaisy Carnival is an electronic music festival which was held in Aurora, COon June 14, 2008 and will be held again in Los Angeles, CA on June 28, 2008. I had the fortune of attending the prior which was held at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds. The festivities, which included five stages of artists, carnival rides that ran all night, and the most eclectic group of people one will ever come across, lasted from early evening until early morning.

If you are a fun-seeking young adult then the Electric Daisy Carnival is a definite must. The plethora of electronic genres provides entertainment to even the most sober of party goers. Unfortunately, there were just too many DJs playing simultaneously for me to make it to every one. However, I was able tocatch some amazing spinning by Mark Farina, Above and Beyond, Colette, UberzoneLive, Kaskade, and a few other bumping DJs. As I wandered around the fairgrounds in Colorado not knowing what to expect next, I heard amazing remixes of classics like Guns and Roses’“Welcome to the Jungle” to Daft Punk’s “Around the World” along with some amazing original beats and melodies by over 40 artists.
