I agree, Friday, 01 February 2008
The fox attracts people from all over the....country. My complaints: its dirty and is in need of some cosmetic attention. Secondly, drunk dudes. I really like the fence though that seperates the under ages from the overagers. Sometimes I just look through that chainlinked fence at those kids poor puppy dog eyes and I think what is this world coming to? Fences that seperate discriminating ages. Just kidding. The fox could take some lessons though: from the Boulder Theatre and the Triology for instance: just spruce it up a bit: its not like they don't have the means; maybe have some rules against raunchy fraterity parties, clean up the floor, get some chairs, rebuild the balcony (make it a second floor), get some culture: and by get some culture I don't mean: forbid Buju Banton from ever visiting the Fox. Ouch!!
Can't get to my table: chairs in the way, Friday, 01 February 2008
"Please follow me": cash bang, "sorry, excuse me". But if you love tea and class go to Daushanbe. Beautiful architectural gift from France was it? Like the statue of Liberty but Indian style. I say style because the food is still kind of American if you know what I mean. The menu could use some changin' and the waiters defintly don't always hold themselves together (however do have a clean professional appearance). But yes, the ambiance is there once you make your way through crowded tables to your seat: caution there is a little table and chairs by the bar that is impossible to get around as it butts up next to the neighboring tables so beware you have to walk around the back side of the restaurant and circle around to the bar if you want to sit over there. I recommend saving this spot for the summer time as the outdoor patio is a great place to vibe. Overall the place has mixed feelings: kind of like Boulder in general.
Don't mess with these people: cash only, Friday, 01 February 2008
The Bookend:chai tea, cozy tea house on a snowy night: Over it! I feel that Bookend just doesn't have it all together for these times: but undoubtably they have regulars and have seen all of the living scenery that frequents pearl street. The food isn't that tasty unless you want to eat fatty deserts; do they take credit cards yet? The ambiance is nice if you don't mind sitting very close to your neighbors, or sitting in the back (in which case you start to feel like a real loser)or possibly not being able to find a seat at all (in the warmer season). And you can't bring your drinks into the bookstore so drink up. Bookend is great for tourist! and the loyal regulars who have taken Bookend vows: say 10 times with your hands raised : "Bookend is a pillar of strength"
Just ok, Friday, 01 February 2008
Places like this make me wish I never left NYC. The food is generic, not exactly piping hot, mediocre, and just not that good. I got a portabello sandwhich with fries and its like the portabello was slipping out of the really rubbery bun: how do you mess up bread? in boulder? Bread is easy so why not put the sandwhich on a delicious homemade bun? The fries were cold, the service was rude. Im going to say, go to the attic to get your drink and pool or whatever on but make sure you eat before you go. the word is "class": get some attic bar and bistro.
You know what I like about You and Mee?, Friday, 01 February 2008
It's healthy. You and Mee is probably one of the most healthy restaurants on the hill: so while trying to loose those pounds before spring check out You and Mee instead of say Snarfs, Thunderbird, even Tra Lings that using cornstarch and sugar and salty sauces (don't get me wrong tra lings is tasty. This is a great place for vegans and vegetarians as well as those who don't like that heavy bloated feeling you get when you eat fatty foods. Restaurant is clean, there is a wide variety of food choices, and pretty nice atmosphere. Great soups in the winter and light meals in the summer.
